ASCH’s 48th Annual Scientific Meeting and Workshops on Clinical Hypnosis, Hypnosis in the Mainstream: Currents and Futures take place in Orlando, Florida, March 24-28, 2006. For those of you who plan to go and give yourself a treat, and for those of you who may be undecided, let me say that the program is abundantly rich in stimulating, leading edge research and clinical practice presentations. In addition to luminaries from all parts of the world, you may attend a workshop provided by one of our distinguished GPSCH Members: Peter B. Bloom, MD; Reihild Drager-Muenke, PsyD,LMFT; John H. Edgette, PsyD; Richard P. Kluft, MD; V. Krishna Kumar, PhD; Ronald J. Pekala, PhD; and Mitch S. Smith, MSW. Julie H Linden, PhD will take office as President of ASCH. Upon request and for a nominal fee, GPSCH will be offering continuing education credits for psychologists attending our monthly meeting presentations. AMA Category 1 CME’s for physicians will be available for our Spring 2006 Workshop. GPSCH is pursuing the offering of CE credits for social workers attending our workshops. Acknowledging the value of our monthly meeting academic presentations and the benefits of GPSCH membership, the Board of Governors has determined that in the future, Nonmembers will be charged a fee for attending monthly meeting presentations. Congratulations! to Jan Goldman, Psy.D. who has had a proposal accepted for the November 6-8, 2005 Conference of the International Society for the Study of Dissociation in Toronto, Canada. She will present her paper entitled, “Customizing Hypnotherapeutic Interventions for Impasses in the Treatment of DID.” Congratulations! to Ron Pekala, Ph.D., Krishna Kumar, Ph.D. & Ron Maurer, M.A. on their coauthorship of State-nonstate controversy with particular reference to operationalizing hypnotism. The authors received the Best Theoretical Paper Award for Division 30 ( Psychological Hypnosis ) of the American Psychological Association at the Annual Meeting of the American Psychological Association, August 2005. We are pleased that these scholar/investigators-professional/practitioners will be presenting at our Fall Workshop.
