GPSCH HypNewsNewsletter of The Greater Philadelphia Society of Clinical Hypnosis Volume1 Number 1 January, 2005 |
Dear GPSCH Colleagues, Back in 1997, you remember the 90’s, don’t you, GPSCH published a newsletter, “GPSCH In Focus” which was sent to the general membership. Steve Eichel’s editorial, "Clinical vs. Lay Hypnosis: A Hopeless Battle?” as well as articles, book reviews, and other newsworthy items appeared. After two volumes, the newsletter ceased publication due to lack of contributions. Flash forward to 2005. We have increased our membership in number, knowledge and experience. We have renewed interest in interactive communication such that a GPSCH newsletter is now being reintroduced as a benefit of society membership. I have christened the current effort “GPSCH HypNews” and await your enthusiastic response. You will receive the newsletter by regular mail and it will be posted on the GPSCH Website Homepage along with archived volumes. Please feel free to submit items of information you wish to share: lectures or workshops you have presented or will present; clinical, research, educational or employment activities you are engaged in or are interested in pursuing; announcements of upcoming events that will be of general interest; an interesting article or book you have read; an idea, treatment strategy or hypnotic technique that you would like to offer; “think pieces” or belles mots that may stimulate collegial dialog. *This space is reserved for you.
This is an opportunity to interact with colleagues in between our meetings and workshops in an informal, yet important way. Our Immediate Past President, V. Krishna Kumar, PhD, has offered: “GPSCH has a rich diversity of members who contribute towards the mutual growth of all members. We have highly skilled practitioners with expertise in a variety of areas; others are into teaching and research. We also have professionals from different fields. Above all, the group as a whole is very dedicated and collegial.” Training Committee Chair, Reinhild D. Muenke, MS, LMFT, points out that there may be a GPSCH member who is presenting at the ASCH 47th Annual Meeting & Scientific Workshops whose name I may not have identified in my “Message” to you. If so, my apologies. Also, there are, no doubt, many of you who are presenting at other high profile conferences and workshops. Please let us know what you are doing. Let us stay well informed and connected to each other and the field of our desire. For Your Consideration: “If buttered toast always lands buttered
side down on the floor and a cat always lands on its feet, what happens
if you tie a piece of buttered toast to the back of a cat and drop it?” - SGG |
